The SW M&P is a polymer-framed, short recoil operated, locked breech semi-automatic pistol introduced in the summer of 2005. It uses a Browning-type locking system. While targeted at law enforcement agencies, the MP is also widely available on the commercial market.

The M&P is a hybrid evolution of the SW99 design but does not share parts compatibility with the Sigma. The M&P design has an improved trigger and enhanced ergonomics that allow for end-user customization. An industry standard picatinny rail and a higher grip has been afforded with an improved grip and beavertail. Many of the ergonomic study elements that had been incorporated into the Sigma and the SW99 were brought over to the MP. The improved trigger weight and feel and the unique takedown method (not requiring a dry-fire pull of the trigger) were meant to set the MP apart from the popular model G pistols.

KWC are known for making quality full metal handguns in the airsoft market and have a good reputation for their build quality. This particular M&P40 features under rail, safety and extra grips for different size hands whilst still keeping within CQB power limits of 400 FPS.

A replica of the Smith & Wesson Sigma, the KWC SW40F is a functioning slide gas blowback pistol running on CO2 capsules. With a polymer frame and metal slide, the rear of the slide even reports the internal hammer to be cocked or not due to the small hole allowing line of sight to the rear of the hammer, functioning as an indicator.

Shooting in nice clean lines, it clocks in at around 390fps with fantastic kick and sound and feeding from a 26 round magazine it makes for a pretty scary choice for a sidearm. With a single-action only trigger the weapon must be cocked to make shooting possible. There is a safety tab positioned on the bottom of the grip, slightly odd but it does allow a safe state while in transport to greatly reduce the chance of accidental discharge.

It's been a long time coming and it is finally here. This time around, Marui have beaten everyone to the punch. Marui may be known for clocking in low right out of the box but this one pushes it to the limit clocking in at 330 fps with green / top gas. This is Tokyo Marui we are talking about and this SW P9L is a beast! What makes it so special? You look at the body and notice that it's made out of plastic, as the real steel version is made out of polymer and it comes with the standard plastic slide. It comes with two additional grips for those with smaller or bigger hands, which is normal. What you see on this that you won't see on the others is a visible safety lever. You can find it on the same spot as the Hi-Capa and it's ambidextrous. This is something you won't usually find on the real steel version though it is possible to get one. Japanese laws dictate that a safety switch needs to be visible so we can't fault them for that and to be honest, it's actually very useful. The slide release is ambidextrous, you can find the magazine release protruding on the left side and there is a accessory rail up front for your lasers and flashlights. To find the hop up, you'd think you would need to remove the slide, but you don't as all you need to do is pull the slide back and in the breach, you can find the hop up spinning dial on the far side. How very useful! Let's get down to business. How does it feel when you pull the trigger? If I tell you that it feels like a Hi-Capa, will that be enough? Probably not, but what I can say is that it has a brutal kick and has the consistency of a Hi Capa which is saying a lot.

News of a gas blow back M&P version came at the 2012 Shizuoka Hobby Show, where airsoft manufacturer Tokyo Marui displayed a mock-up of the handgun. It now appears that WE-Tech will be the first to release a gas blow back M&P style as their model.

The WE M&P features a metal slide, polymer frame, slide release and slide catch lever, a textured grip, and three different sized backstraps( PINK and Black), it provides really nice gripping even for big hands. Complete with a unique serial number.

The V Custom version of the M&P9 was released on 25 December 2014, and as such it's the newest in TMs pistol line up (at time of posting). The pistol is an all plastic affair, as usual for any TM pistol, but rather than the previously shiny plastic, the finish and colour is much improved, duller finish. It is modelled upon the Smith & Wesson M&P9 VTAC (Viking Tactics).

Unloaded, the pistol is very light weight (400 grams) although once a mag is inserted the weight comes up to 620 grams. For some the lack of weight in the hand might be a turn off, but the trade off is excellent gas effeciency and cold weather performance (coupled with other improvements noted later) that you're unlikely to see from pistols with metal slides.

The magazine is 26+1 double stack affair, and comes with a tan base plate to match the pistol. You also receive a spare in the box so you can have matching base plates on spare mags if that takes your fancy. The magazines are also a one piece a design, which reduces the opportunities for leaks and is a welcomed change over mags for guns like the 226. Due to their size you can expect at least two mags per fill before you experience signifant performance issues.

One much improved feature over many pistols (including many of TMs own), is that the hop adjustment is accessible without dissembly through the ejection port. To access, you just need to lock the slide back, make your adjustment and send the slide home. This makes fine tuning hassle free and quicker compared to having to pop the slide off each time.

All of the controls are, or can be made to be, ambidextrous (safety and slide lock are, and the mag release can be flipped over). Rather interestingly the slide lock does not engage on the externals of the slide, rather it engages internally which saves the slide being worn out by the metal catch (the catch is still operated by the user in the normal way).

As well as having a physical thumb safety, the M&P9 also incorporates a Glock style trigger safety. The downside of this system is that the trigger does feel slightly spongey and has a fairly long pull although if speed triggers are your thing, you can either mod the mechanism or after market parts are available.
